Inflammation Assessment
Inflammation is a process by which the body’s immune response produces to protect the body from possibly harmful foreign organisms such as bacteria and viruses. It triggers the production of white blood cells and other substances to fight infections, injuries and toxins.
Inflammation can occur in two different states: acute and chronic. Acute inflammation usually lasts for a few hours or days, while chronic inflammation occurs when the inflammation response lasts for a longer period of time, keeping your body in a constant state of alert.
Common symptoms of Acute Inflammation include the following:
- Redness
- Swelling
- Increased heat
- Pain
- Loss of function
Common symptoms of Chronic Inflammation include the following:
- Fatigue
- Fever
- Mouth sores
- Chest pain
- Abdominal pain
- Rash
Chronic inflammation can have a negative impact to your body and can contribute to many conditions such as asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, periodontitis, chromic peptic ulcers, and Crohn’s disease.
Dr. Dempster provides an inflammation assessment where blood work is drawn and sent to a lab for analysis. This provides a means for Dr. Dempster, ND to analyze and identify inflammation that may be contributing or leading to a condition.
